CIRCULAR WALKS and Gorges IN EAST CRETE

Anne Bouras together with her walking companion Caris Gallos published a book on circular walks in the beautiful countryside around Aghios Nikolaos.

This book is aimed at people who enjoy seeing something a little beyond the known tourist routes or who get fidgety sitting in a car all day long, but don't want to miss the authentic Crete; find the many wild flowers including orchids or enjoy the smell of herbs or just walk in the peace of the hills having wonderful views.

Our walks, many along ancient trails built by the Minoans and Venetians, show a cross section of our beautiful area. You don't have to go far beyond the popular resorts of Agios Nikolaos, Elounda and Makriyialos to find Crete unchanged by time. We start with really easy one and a half hour strolls, to encourage people who enjoy walking but don't get much opportunity, and end with a more strenuous four-hour trek.
